All temporary power boards are not created equal!

When assessing your temporary power distribution needs there are many questions that are asked. How much is it? What is it made of? Is it durable? Is it going to last for more than one job? Is it easy to use? How portable is it? Can we customise it? The list is, at times, endless. Whilst all of these are important to the decision making process, possibly the most important question to ask or check is actually “Does it comply with the applicable standards?” Australia has stringent electrical standards in place to protect the end user and provide a framework for developing safe and reliable products. There are many temporary power solutions in the marketplace and most of them look the same and appear to do the same things. Don’t be fooled into thinking they are all made to the same standards because they are not.

The electrical industry has been flooded with contract manufacturers who are eager to copy the designs of successful products and sell them as lower-cost alternatives to leading brands. These products may be cheaper initially but will cost more in the longer term because they don’t have the longevity and sustainability that the Lifeguard system has. Furthermore, these products may be sub-standard and often dangerous.

Each Australian state, Territory and New Zealand enacts electrical safety legislation to ensure electrical equipment that is hired or sold is electrically safe. A PSOA (portable socket outlet assembly) is a type of portable RCD (PRCD), which is declared as “prescribed electrical equipment” and must comply with the relevant requirements of AS/NZS3190 and have regulatory approval. Approved electrical goods are normally identified by a mark consisting of a capital letter (corresponding to the authorising state or territory) followed by a certificate number. This approval number confirms that the product has been tested to accepted standards of electrical safety and that the process has been verified by an electrical regulatory authority. Overseas Certificates of Approval and approval marks, such as the CE mark, are not acceptable in Australia.

All Distribution Boards are not created equal. If you are looking for a power distribution system that is safe, reliable, cost efficient, meets all the applicable safety standards and is of the best quality available in Australia, look no further than Lifeguard. Why risk using anything else?ll
