The operator and site manager of Tasmania’s Mount Lyell copper mine have been charged for a fatality two years ago.
The Copper Mines of Tasmania operation was closed in January 2014, leaving 200 workers out of a job, following the deaths of three workers within six weeks.
Last year the company was charged with failing to comply with health and safety duties after the deaths of Alistair Lucas, 25, and Craig Gleeson, 45.
The men were killed in December, 2013, when they fell from a 22-metre-high platform inside a mine shaft.
CMT is currently facing the same charges in relation to the death of 53-year-old Michael Welsh in January, 2014, after a mud rush.
General manager at the time, Scot Clyd, has also been charged with failing to comply with his duties as a site officer in relation to the incident.
The case has been adjourned until June.
