Mine Worker Killed and Another Injured at Mine Near Moura

Reports are coming in that a mine worker has been killed and another injured early this morning when a truck tyre exploded at a mine near Moura in Central Queensland.

The ABC is reporting that the Queensland Ambulance Service have confirmed one worker has been taken to Theodore hospital by Ambulance with a shoulder injury.

The incident occurred at Anglo American’s Dawson Mine, near Moura, around 180 kilometres south west of Rockhampton.

Police were alerted to the incident at around 5.30am this morning, news.com.au is reporting, however they are yet to officially confirm the fatality.

Investigations into the cause of the incident are currently underway.

This is the second fatality in a week in Australian mining after a mine worker was killed in a rock fall at Olympic Dam mine in South Australia last Tuesday.
