NSW Mine Safety is calling for public comment on new draft mining codes of practice.
The draft codes of practice are practical guides to achieving the standards of health, safety and welfare required under the WHS (Mines) Act 2013 and the WHS (Mines) Regulation 2014.
The codes have been developed in consultation between governments, unions and employer organisations. The first three are now available for comment:
- Safety management systems in mining
- Strata control in underground coal mines
- Inundation and inrush hazard management
Each draft code includes background to the development of the code and highlights specific issues for comment.
Submissions must be received by 11 July 2014.
Submission templates are available on the WHS (mines) legislation consultation page on our website. You can download a copy, fill it in, then email it toconsult.minesafety@trade.nsw.
Additional codes of practice will be available for comment shortly.
