Recent figures from Safe Work Australia show 76 Australian workers have been killed at work so far this year.
The Transport, postal & warehousing workplaces have once again emerged as the most fatal, with 30 fatalities between them so far.
Agriculture, forestry & fishing workplaces have seen 15 fatalities.The figures show 13 construction workers have died on the job this year.
Other workplaces that have seen fatalities this year include Manufacturing (4), Public administration & safety (3), Electricity, gas, water & waste services (3) and Public Administration & safety (3). Others include Accommodation & food services (2), Rental, hiring & real estate services (1), Mining (1) and Retail trade (1).
Safe Work Australia says these figures are based on initial media reports and are a preliminary estimate of the number of workplace fatalities. Once the appropriate authority has investigated the death, more accurate information becomes available from which Safe Work Australia updates details of the incident.
