Townsville hosts Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference

Queensland Safety Conference2The 2014 Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference is currently in full swing in Townsville with delegates treated to a host of high profile speakers.

Rob Neale will tomorrow address delegates and deliver his keynote presentation titled: ‘Safety for a Sustainable Life’.

Rob is the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of New Hope Corporation Limited; current President of the Queensland Resources Council, and Chairman of Westside Corporation Ltd and Dart Energy Ltd.

He has a first Class Honours Degree in Geology and Mineralogy, and 40 years experience in the resources sector. Rob’s main areas of expertise are in exploration and mining industries in several different countries covering gold, base metals, synthetic fuels, coal, bulk materials, and shipping as well as power generation projects.

Over the past 15 years, Rob has effectively led corporate growth through business improvement, asset management, and successfully implemented new business ventures.

Rob was appointed to his current position within New Hope in 2008 (holding the Chief Executive Officer’s position since 2005).

He is currently responsible for the overall management and leadership of the coal operations, coal marketing, land development, energy projects, and new business development.

The Conference, which started yesterday, is being held at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre and and will run until Wednesday20 August. It enjoys the tripartite patronage of industry, mining unions and the Queensland Government and continues to attract the largest number of delegates for any mining safety conference in Australia.
