Upcoming Safety Regulation System Enhancements

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) is planning to roll-out further enhancements to its Safety Regulation System (SRS) on 21 April 2018, including the ability for industry to submit online applications related to dredges, shaft sinking and winding systems, and high voltage installations for mining operations. This replaces the current process through the Department’s submissions portal and consolidates many of the applications submitted to the Department.

Delivering this functionality modernises the way these submissions are received and managed by DMIRS as industry will be able to track the progress of applications online, view previous approvals and standardises communications.

The new process includes updated requirements for:

Applications submitted to the Department up to 20 April 2018 can be submitted using the current proformas. Applications submitted after this date must be submitted via SRS and use the new proformas.

Over the next month, DMIRS will provide further guidance in the form of a frequently asked questions (FAQs) webpage and SRS training videos.
