Higginsville mine site on alert as bushfire advances

BREAKING…The Higginsville Mine Site in Western Australia has been placed o alert this afternoon as a bushfire has broken containment lines.

The current alert status of the fire has been upgraded moment ago to watch and Act. Major roads in the area have been cut.

The following roads have been closed:

• Coolgardie-Esperance Highway is now closed between Coolgardie and Norseman, including the Kambalda turn-off;
• Hyden-Norseman Road is closed between Marvel-Loch Forrestania Road and the Norseman townsite. This road closure is due to falling trees and debris. Please take heed for your safety.

The Eyre highway remains open. People are advising not to use Hyden- Norseman or Norseman-lake King roads. There are active fires in these areas. Peak Charles NP is closed North of Salmon Gums
