Qld miner sues Anglo for $1million

A former Central Queensland mine employee is attempting to sue Anglo Coal for more than $1 million over a dump truck incident at Dawson Mine that left him with severe back injuries.

The Morning Bulletin reports that the man claims he sustained soft tissue damage to his spine when the dump truck he was operating was violently shaken by the irresponsible actions of an excavator operator.

The man claims the excavator’s bucket was positioned at an unusually high height when it dropped a 3m x 3m rock onto the side of the tray, causing the truck to shake violently.

Anglo Coal is being sued for breach of duty to provide the employee with a safe place and a safe system of work, while the operator of the excavator is being sued for negligence.

The man is claiming $80,000 for what he describes as debilitating pain that will need to be managed for the rest of his life. He is also claiming $866,736.36 for past and future economic loss and additional expenses.
