One of Far North Queensland’s biggest resources operations will keep producing for years to come.

The State Government recently renewed four mining licences for EMR Capital’s and Golden Energy and Resources’ Ravenswood mine, 130km south of Charters Towers.

The decision means the operation could stay open for at least another 16 years, employing more than 400 people and procuring local goods and services.

It also allows the proponent to proceed with a $350 million expansion, which is touted to ramp up production from 2.5M to 8.4M tonnes per annum.

The project will also require a:

  • new crusher
  • new mobile mining equipment fleet
  • 100M tonne tailings storage facility
  • 12 megawatt ball mill and processing equipment.

“Renewal of our mining leases is another exciting and positive step forward for the future of the Ravenswood Gold Project. Long-term certainty is critical for business confidence and continued investment,” Ravenswood CEO Brett Fletcher said in a public statement.
