Adero Law have advised that they are targeting a range of labour hire companies in a major class action across Coal Mines in New South Wales & Queensland. The legal firm are allegedly investigating several labour hire companies at multiple mines across Australia for underpayment of wages and misclassification of workers.
Adero has targeted companies including HAYS, SKILLED, WORKPAC, MOUNT ARTHUR, STELLA, ONE KEY. Adero has claimed that workers are engaged as casuals but are working the same job as permanents.
In an example provided by Adero on their website, they claim “over a period of 2 years and 3 months working for Chandler Macleod and TESA, our lead claimant Simon Turner is estimated to be entitled to $50,000-$70,000 in total shortfall. This does not include additional claims for accident pay and redundancy entitlements. Individual damages may vary but Mr Turner’s assessment was consistent with a 12-hour shift worker in the 2014-15 period.”
AMSJ confirms that the information in this article is based on available information supplied by Adero Law website. A court of law will confirm the potential liabilities (if any) that the companies identified in this article have in respect of due payments. AMSJ wishes to confirm that, of the companies listed in the class action (including HAYS, SKILLED, WORKPAC, MOUNT ARTHUR, STELLA & ONE KEY), none have been found guilty of breaches of law and claims brought by Adero Law are “potential claims” at this stage of the proceedings.
