Resources industry trainers will gather in Brisbane later this month for a conference and exhibition hosted by the Resources Training Council. This year’s conference will be held in Brisbane on the 29th & 30th October and is themed “We’re for Better”. The conference will include a focus on better training, better safety, better productivity and better industry outcomes.

The Resources Training Council is the national peak and representative body for resources training in Australia. It seeks to influence and shape policy to deliver better training and safety outcomes across the industry. The organisation also provides a range of advisory and consultancy services to Industry and RTOs.

Heather Munro (President of the Resources Training Council) told AMSJ “This year’s program will aim to challenge participant thinking and bring fresh ideas to inspire industry trainers.”  Heather added “We want those leading and influencing training and skilling across the resources industry to be inspired and excited about the importance of the work that they do.”

The 2018 year’s event also encompasses the Australian Skilling Awards Dinner. Three trophies will be presented to recognise creativity, ingenuity and leading practice through the delivery of workforce development.

Keynote Speakers

The event will feature a range of keynote speakers including Dr Louise Mahler PhD, B.Econ, B.Mus, M.App.Sc, Grad. Dip.Mus, L.Mus.A. Louise brings together the worlds of business and opera in a pioneering combination – a former opera singer with the Vienna State Opera, highly qualified in music, she changed tack to become a business heavyweight with a PhD in business, Bachelor of Economics, Master of Applied Management in Service Management and Innovation, and Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Her achievements showcase a litany of success from her academic work including her PhD (awarded two outstanding recommendations), her University’s business award for innovation, as well as her professional work as the author of Resonate (Penguin).

She is a highly sought-after media commentator on leadership, body language and effective presentation with regular appearances on TV, radio and print. She has a series of videos on the Australian Financial Review website and she has a global social media following.

Resources Industry Trainers

Resources industry trainers are expected to gather from across Australia to Brisbane to hear Louise and other leading speakers including TV personality Chris Parsons,  Juliet Kwang & Kirsten Stribley from Price Waterhouse Coopers and Dr Joel Spencer (Institute of Drone Technology).
