Power Transmission Workholding Technology Remote Control Systems

RINGSPANN INDUSTRIAL BRAKES

The electromagnetic disc industrial brakes from RINGSPANN feature as components of countless drive systems in mechanical engineering and plant construction. They can be deployed for stopping, control and holding and cover a very large application spectrum with braking torques ranging from 94 to 6,590 Nm.

RINGSPANN industrial brakes are deployed as stopping, control and holding systems in all types of industries: In the turbine, ventilator and fan industries, machine tool construction, winch and winding technology, the wind power industry, general drive technology, conveyor and crane systems, lifting and handling systems, mining and construction machines, marine technology, recycling technology and metallurgy, and in many other areas. RINGSPANN provides its customers with a technologically almost comprehensive range of brakes, which comprises all important functional and design types. In order to make it easier for designers and engineers to select the right brake, RINGSPANN has also developed a calculation tool that can be used free of charge at www.ringspann.com.au. It enables you to determine braking torques (clamping forces) and braking forces. It allows you for example to calculate the braking of rotating masses in carriages, cable winches and conveyor belts.

RINGSPANN’s electromagnetic disc brakes from the DH and DV series and the EV and EH series cover a very large application spectrum in mechanical engineering and plant construction. They are a preferred choice as a space-saving and low-maintenance alternative to hydraulic and pneumatic brake systems. Typical areas of deployment for these electrical brakes are for example the turbine, ventilator and fan industries, machine tool construction, winch and winding technology, wind power technology and general drive technology. The (emergency) stop function brings rotating shafts to a standstill within seconds, as a control unit they enable the controlled adherence or delay of defined forces, and as a holding system they prevent the unintended start-up of rotating components.

The electromagnetic RINGSPANN disc brakes can be installed in any position and can also be operated in synchronised groups. The DH and DV series feature electrical brakes with braking torques ranging from 94 to 570 Nm; the EV and EH series meanwhile feature braking torques ranging from 65 to 6,590 Nm. A remarkable technical feature of RINGSPANN’s EV and EH brakes is that they only have an extremely low power consumption for the entire holding phase. With such excellent performance figures, the Homburg manufacturer is setting international standards and making a tangible contribution towards creating energy-efficient drive solutions.

Thanks to extensive product development over the years, RINGSPANN now boasts an almost complete assortment of industrial brakes. Particularly its broad selection of electro-hydraulic drum and disc brakes with options for customer-oriented optimisation are setting global standards. These brakes are primarily used in drive and safety systems of lifting and conveyor systems in the steel industry and container logistics as well as in crane construction and marine technology.

They ensure the operational safety of bucket wheel excavators and bulk goods conveyors, enable the secure handling of containers and ensure the smooth handling of melting pots at the blast furnaces of steel producers. All over the world, they are also in use as components in drive units of mobile portal cranes. We are referring to the electro-hydraulic drum and disc brakes in RINGSPANN’s current portfolio, which is currently among the best in the market. The current catalogue standard range, with brake torques ranging from 230 to 7,200 Nm for drum brakes (DT series…) and from 2000 to 19,900 Nm for disc brakes (DS series…), conveys an idea of the scope of performance that RINGSPANN can offer engineers, developers and purchasers in this brake technology segment. This is because, in addition to the range of models – with the corresponding control systems, the customer-oriented configuration of electro-hydraulic drum and disc brakes along with the fast spare part services and modern test bench technology rank among the company’s greatest strengths.

Besides our manufacturing facility in Germany, RINGSPANN’s Italian subsidiary in Limbiate close to Milan is also a key component of the operation. It has assumed an increasingly pivotal role due to the organisational integration of a brake manufacturer and is in a technological tie-up with RINGSPANN specialists at the firm’s headquarters in Germany to transform any electro-hydraulic drum or disk brake from the catalogue range into a customer and application-specific ideal solution. To do so, there is not only a broad range of technical options available, but also the in-house production capacities of RINGSPANN Italia. If it is not possible to specially tailor broader brake shoes or drums, then as options, an automatic friction lining wear regulation, an externally adjustable brake spring, a heat-resistant lifting device or sinter metal friction linings can be used.

RINGSPANN also excels in the field of electro-hydraulic drum and disk brakes thanks to other key factors. For our Australian customers, availability of components on site in Germany and Italy translates to a high degree of availability of the brakes and enables the integration of the brake assembly into just-in-time scenarios. All spare and wear parts are also available on standby and supplied in record time by RINGSPANN Australia.

The integration of RINGSPANN Italy’s range of products into RINGSPANN’s overall portfolio amounts to Australian customers having access to all relevant design and functional types of industrial brakes.
