SDGs present a comprehensive framework that ensures a beneficial impact on people, the planet and prosperity. This framework is in harmony with the ethos of the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council (TMEC), which is committed to:
elevating safety, health, and wellbeing outcomes for its workforce, contractors, suppliers, and communities they serve
diligently reducing the adverse effects of their operations, products, and historical actions on the environment.
amplifying the economic potential of various sectors within Tasmania.
By synchronising with SDGs, Tasmania not only bolsters its industries but also casts a positive ripple effect on the wider local and global populace. To fortify this commitment, TMEC has joined forces with the Tasmanian enterprise, SDG Align, to unveil a toolkit. This toolkit is meticulously crafted to aid members in aligning their operations seamlessly with the SDGs.
Delving into the 17 sustainable development goals
Unveiled by the United Nations in 2015, the SDGs, colloquially termed the Global Goals, encompass 17 intertwined objectives. These goals are designed to address a myriad of social, economic and environmental challenges that the world grapples with, laying down a blueprint for a more equitable and sustainable future.
