Leading resource logistics provider Bis and specialised maintenance provider, UGM opened the doors on a new purpose-built facility in Mackay which it will share with its underground services.

The Bis and UGM co-branded facility in Paget houses workshop, operational and customer functions for both businesses, providing significant benefits for their individual and shared customers alike, across underground, haulage and materials handling.

State-of-the-art facility to boost safety of infrastructure

Bis Chief Executive Officer Brad Rogers said: “I’m delighted to see Bis and UGM come together under the one roof in Queensland. It not only reinforces our commitment to customers throughout the state; it is tangible evidence of our growth strategy for this geographic market. Investing in such a purpose-built facility means the Bis and UGM teams will be able to provide enhanced services for our existing customer base whilst opening up new opportunities to support a wider cross-section of Queensland customers.”

Commenting on the opening, which comes six months after opening another new facility for UGM in Morisset, near Newcastle NSW, Bis Underground Services General Manager Mark Doyle said the ability to incorporate new safety, productivity and collaboration features into the build will pay significant dividends for customers and, importantly, employees.

“The Paget site provided an ideal location to create a purpose-built facility where the two businesses can drive an enhanced customer-focused collaboration and innovation, as well as promote the highest standards of employee wellbeing and safety,” Doyle said.

“We have doubled our workshop capacity. This means more dedicated space to deliver maintenance and overhaul projects for our customers. This is very exciting and we look forward to servicing customers in new ways.”
