Electrical Engineering Safety Seminar

In its 24th year, the annual Electrical Engineering Safety Seminar seminar is returning to Sydney Olympic Park this year at the Waterview Convention Centre on 5-6 November.

The popular seminar will focus on “Staying connected through safety” and it will feature presentations from a range of industry experts and professionals. The topics to be covered include:

  • Proximity detection trials
  • Electric shock case study
  • Implicit assumptions in engineering failures
  • Electronic spark test apparatus demonstration
  • A miner’s legacy – human impact and history of electrical safety at mines
  • Options for legacy high voltage circuit breakers
  • New WHS laws for mining

This year the seminar will also feature a technical workshop, following on from Dr Marvin Morris’ keynote presentation on the effects that lightning has on underground coal mines. The workshop will examine the development, validity and accuracy of various modelling and analytical techniques, and include a discussion on how the knowledge and modelling can be used to mitigate the dangers caused by lightning transfer into underground mines.

The dinner will be held the ANZ stadium and the guest speaker is Matt Hall, the first Australian to win the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. He was also the first rookie to finish the race, and the entire season, on the podium.

Accommodation is available within Sydney Olympic Park at the Pullman, Novotel, Ibis hotels and Quest apartments. Those hoping to attend are encouraged to book early.

You can now register your attendance and view the agenda on the program flyer.
