ST. PAUL, MN/USA - AUGUST 29, 2018: Kenworth semi-trailor grille and trademark logo. Kenworth is a global manufacturer of medium and heavy-duty trucks.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s Product Safety Australia has announced a recall of Kenworth trucks equipped with Hill Start Assist, Model Years 2009-2020 (MY2009-2020) supplied by PACCAR Australia Pty Ltd.

The defects is a pneumatic valve in the Hill Start Assist system may be incorrectly connected.

The Regulator said in a statement released that “if this valve is connected incorrectly, air supply to the rear brakes may be disrupted, increasing the risk of an accident resulting in serious injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

According to records, there are 4533 affected vehicles. You can check the VIN of affected vehicles here.

Owners will be contacted and advised to make an immediate appointment with their nearest PACCAR Australia dealer to arrange for a technician to inspect and repair the vehicle.

Performax Recall

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s Product Safety Australia has announced a recall of Performax F-250 & F-350 Trucks Years 2014-2016. The recall stems from premature failure of tie rod end due to dry steering.

Some of the Performax F250 and F350 vehicles may have be converted to mine specifications and potentially may be used in the Australian mining industry. Fleet managers are advised to check the list of affected VINs below to confirm if their vehicle may be affected.

The Regulator said in a statement released this week that “If the tie rod prematurely fails due to wear, it may become loose or the tie rod may break upon dry steering, increasing the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

According to records, only 148 vehicles were sold in Australia. You can check the VIN of affected vehicles here
