New Ex Phone Hits market

A new Ex Phone is capable of use in hazardous areas
A new Ex Phone with capabilities in Hazardous Areas has hit the market.

Ecom has launched the 10th Generation of a certified Ex Phone (Zone 1/21 plus 2/22 + Division 1 & Division 2) specifically targeted at hazardous areas.

Simple, robust and practice-oriented, the Ex Phone 4G/LTE  is ideal for a wide range of applications – from pure communication and push-to-talk (PTT) to lone worker protection and innovative IIoT-applications.

Ex Phone has more functionality for the user

The Ex-Handy 10 enables the use of push-to-talk over 4G, private LTE and Wi-Fi networks. This ensures optimal network coverage in all areas and situations, with low network latency and excellent data transfer rates. For more security, flexibility and simplified communication in potentially dangerous areas, dedicated easy-to-use side buttons provide quick one-touch access to PTT and lone worker protection functions.

Speakers on the front of the Ex-Handy 10 ensure the best voice and sound quality – even in noisy environments. A fixed cabling system for use in hazardous areas makes it possible to use Radio Speaker Microphones (RSM) or headsets. An extremely resilient and scratch-resistant gorilla glass protects the high-resolution display of the mobile device.

With protection class IP68 and permissible ambient temperatures from -20 °C to +60 °C, even the harshest industrial environment does not pose a problem. The highly developed rechargeable battery paired with advanced energy management allows above-average operating times.

Maximum security and support

Equipped with the Android 8.1 operating system, patches and security updates are automatically applied. An in-house development team for the Ex-Handy 10 can also react quickly to customer needs and make adjustments – independently of external partners. With long availability and long-term support (5-year life cycle) as well as global approvals (explosion protection, country-specific product conformity and a wide variety of radio bands), the new feature phone offers maximum planning and investment security.

Optionally, the Ex-Handy 10 can also be connected to ecom’s new Digital Products and Services product line. The Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offers project and IT managers a sophisticated staging, mobile device management and analytics solution. Digital services can be pre-defined and set up fully automated or correlations and causalities can even be established in live operation – for example between software errors, geographical data and WiFi coverage.

In addition, customers benefit from Pepperl+Fuchs’ end-to-end and future-proof solution and global service portfolio for hazardous areas, which opens up entirely new possibilities for complete factory and process automation in line with the Industrial Internet of Things. Mobile devices, sensors and HMI solutions can be optimally matched to each other
