Shining the ‘Solar Hire’ Light On Safety…

solar powered tower lighting systems offer a range of benefits for users including zero noise emissions
Solar powered tower lighting systems offer a range of benefits including zero noise emissions.

Solar powered tower lighting systems offer a range of benefits for end users including a reduction in costs, zero noise emissions and a range of safety benefits. An Australian company is leading the way with its’ innovative approach to tower lighting systems. Solar Hire has created an innovative tower lighting system that can reduce costs for mine operators through low maintenance input.

Throughout the mining industry and other 24 hours per day ventures such as construction, civil infrastructure projects and solar powered LED systems have clearly emerged as the best lighting solution.  With the increasing movement towards companies and organisations needing to factor in environmental considerations – along with optimum safety, sustainability and efficiency, the Solar Hire Tower Lighting System conquers all such challenges.

Easy set up a must for tower lighting systems

Being easy to set up, operate and with obvious over-all cost savings – leasing one of the ‘sun harvesting’ mobile (telescopic mast) tower lighting systems, eliminates any need for diesel fume generators to even be considered as a power source option.

With a side benefit – not merely for the work site but considering the surrounding communities, in providing ‘zero noise emissions’ during ‘late into the night’ operation.  Making the Solar Hire Tower Lighting System the supreme ‘accountable, economical and safe’ choice.

Once onsite, the unit(s) are positioned (having a northerly facing aspect) while arriving with a pre-charged battery system in place, are ready to go ‘that’ night.  Other unit advantages are the inbuilt ‘safety’ light senor.  This provides optimal automated lighting from dusk until dawn.  While additionally – to complement the growing digital requirements of today ‘Solar Hire’ have incorporated into some of their tower lighting systems (patented) monitoring technology.  Involving a video camera and two-way frequency transmission – which may assist an operation with site safety issues ie; assisting with emergency response time, information/data gathering to help validate the assessment of equipment performance and breakdowns etc.

With the mobility and minimal labour requirements for setting up these Solar Hire Tower Lighting systems (while having next to no running costs) has evolved to be the most effective and efficient means for lighting.

Suitable for use across a variety of locations

Such units are suitable for short or long term periods while their applications vary from lighting up road works, traffic intersections (until permanent lighting is available) or road detours etc.  Around crib huts, amenities, mine site shutdown works, construction sites, public events and parking. Plus for any ‘on the spot’ emergency lighting – hence, where ever good lighting becomes necessary or beneficial for safety.

All Solar Hire Tower Lighting Systems will perform without need for further sunlight input for approximately 36 hours.  This equalling 3 consecutive nights of ‘no hassle / worry free’ battery use; as such is ideal for overcast periods or dimly lit conditions.

Some of Solar Hire’s major clients and/or recent projects include:

Glencoe / Hunter Expressway Upgrade (various sections) / North Connex / RMS NSW / Lend Lease / Thiess / Leighton / Coal and Allied Group.

Designed and manufactured in Australia

The Solar Hire Tower Lighting Systems was designed in Australia and are manufactured in the Hunter Valley Region of NSW.   Also as proud patriots ‘Solar Hire’  source all materials and components from Australian suppliers.

Over the past ten years (est. since 2009) Solar Hire Pty Ltd has functioned solely on the leasing out of their innovative mobile Tower Lighting units/safety systems.  With their NSW operational growth and success – the business is now looking to expand its fleet and services into other Australian states.  Hence, the company is assessing ‘the pros and cons’ of future franchise opportunities and/or agency potential and expected development over the next couple of years.

Cost of operation – diesel powered tower lighting systems vs solar tower lighting systems

Diesel Light Tower Cost Example

Running Costs per shift

  • Operate lighting plant turn on and off = $60.00
  • Service charge @ 250 hours $300 = $12.50
  • Full night (12 hours) = 22L fuel
  • 22L @ $1.30 / L = $28.60
  • Typically requires refuelling every 4-5 shifts

Running Costs per shift

  • NIL
  • Operation – auto on/off

Construction meets rigorous standards

All tower lighting systems units are quality constructed to achieve the following standards:

  • NSW MDG15 Compliance
