Worker safety and reduced environmental impact

Today’s mining industry faces many tough challenges, but none as important as improved worker safety and lessened environmental impact, as technology and science have advanced, so have the options regarding cleaning and degreasing chemicals used in the mining industry.

The Simple Green story began over 35 years ago, long before “environmentally friendly” products were mandated by law. Simple Green was introduced to industrial customers in 208L drums and 1041L totes. In those days “does it work?” and “how much is it?” were the opening questions in any presentation conversation! Site managers were not very interested in replacing caustic cleaners and solvent degreasers, they just wanted something that worked and was cheap. It is just as well that 35 years ago, Simple Green did work so well and its price, after dilution, was very competitive.

Fast forward to today’s workplace. Health and safety is the top priority. Of course a product has to perform very well but unless it is safe, then it will not get to base one. The first action a Health and Safety Manager takes is to look over our MSDS data. All over the world, in industrial manufacturing and MRO repair facilities, in oil and gas extraction and refining, in transportation, in aviation and maritime, and especially in the mining industry, the demand is for safe, effective and economical cleaning and degreasing products.

Compared to commonly used solvents and chemicals, Simple Green products are safe to use – both for equipment and employees. They are non-flammable, non-explosive, readily biodegradable, non-toxic, nonreactive and have mild alkaline pH ranges. They are highly effective in heavy cleaning and degreasing applications and can be used on a wide variety of substrates and surfaces. Simple Green is also used in bioremediation and is an excellent vapor suppressant, which can be especially critical in mining operations as Simple Green helps to minimise the threats from fires and explosions. Simple Green products can replace most cleaning and degreasing chemicals and solvents used in the mining environment today, providing a safer workplace and a much smaller environmental impact.

Ideas for use – machinery, vehicles, equipment, housing facilities, walls, floors, conveyer belts, pipe work, tanks, pumps, clothing, valves, extractors, grease traps, soak tanks, parts washers, pressure washers, floor scrubbers, heat exchangers, storage tanks and more.

Surfaces to be cleaned and degreased – concrete, blacktop, glass, stainless, tiles, painted floors and walls, perspex, tinted screens, rubber, nylon, fibre glass, painted steel, aluminum, copper, brass, cast iron, stone, laminates in fact all washable surfaces. Simple Green also rinses residue free.

Simple Green is also a concentrate. The advantages are that water is added on site so reducing the energy to get it to the work place. The amount of water reduces the cost per litre of finished product. For example; general cleaning we recommend 10% Simple Green/90% water. This will make a very effective cleaner degreaser while expanding the cost per litre x 10 times. For very heavy degreasing 25% Simple Green and 75% water, gives you a high performing product while expanding the cost per litre x 4 times.

Remember that for all dilution ratios, Simple Green remains, non toxic, non hazardous, biodegradable and non flammable.
