Aerosol Fire Suppression – What are they?

Aerosol Fire Suppressio

Aerosol generators are fast becoming the ‘go-to’ replacement for gas systems. The reasons for this are cost advantages, performance, environmental benefits, and off-the-shelf availability. Gas cylinders required periodic decanting and pressure testing. This is a very costly and time-consuming exercise. If a gas system has a false discharge, it can leave switch rooms without a suppression system for some weeks. Situations like this are where aerosol generators fill the gap in the market.

Fire Suppression – Which one do I choose?

There are several reasons why aerosol generators are cost-effective.

1. Rooms do not need room integrity testing.

2. They are available off the shelf and easy for one person to replace in minutes.

3. They are mounted on the walls, so no footprint is required.

4. It is much better for the environment than most gases

5. No need to access water

6. No pressurised cylinders

7. Fail to safe – auto activate at 300 degrees

8. Life-sustaining if you are in the room during activation (does not deplete oxygen levels)

Aerosol generators can be connected to existing fire panels to reuse the current infrastructure – replace the gas cylinders with aerosol generators.

Emerging markets include LiPo battery containment.

The growth market for aerosol generators is the energy market, with examples of use being windfarm generators and lithium battery containment. Our engineers can calculate the minimum requirements for all classes of fires and room sizes.

United Safety provides a range of aerosol generators and can work with you, on a solution, for most applications. United Safety is the Australian distributor of the AF-X Fireblocker—the very latest in aerosol technology. Contact United Safety and allow our team to present to you our range of fire systems and provide details on the benefits of each in their intended applications.
