An outstanding contribution to the work of health and safety in Australia has been recognised by an Honorary Fellowship.
The Australian Institute of Health & Safety has awarded an Honorary Fellowship to Robin Stewart-Crompton in recognition of his major contribution to workplace health and safety.
Mr Stewart-Crompton received the award presented by the Hon. David Pisoni, SA Minister for Skills and Innovation at the SA Symposium conference dinner last night.

AIHS College of Fellows Chair, Mr Kym Bills, said “Robin is being recognised for his outstanding contribution to occupational and workplace health and safety over several decades that has fundamentally improved the legislative framework and safety outcomes across Australia. This is a prestigious and rare honour with a maximum of one or two worthy Australians receiving the award in any calendar year.”
After having been a Commonwealth Departmental Deputy Secretary, Mr Stewart-Crompton was CEO of the former National Occupational Health and Safety Commission and a member of the Commonwealth’s Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission.
As Director of RSC Advising Pty Ltd since 2005, he has advised Ministers and government bodies on work, health and safety, workers’ compensation, industrial relations and public administration.
Mr Stewart-Crompton was Chair of the national review of model WHS laws in 2008-09 and co-author of the resulting two major reports for the relevant COAG Ministerial Council that provided the foundation for Australia’s nationally consistent Work Health and Safety laws.
Mr Stewart-Crompton has also provided advice to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and represented Australia at various ILO conferences and meetings.
