Electrical engineering safety seminar – Sydney

Learn about the latest initiatives in electrical engineering safety and connect with leaders in the industry at the NSW Resources Regulator’s Electrical engineering safety seminar. This event is being held at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, Sydney on 8 and 9 November 2017.

Identify, evaluate and control the risks

This year the theme of the seminar is, ‘Electrical Engineering Safety – Identify, evaluate and control the risks’. A systematic approach is required to effectively identify, evaluate and control the risks associated with the use of electricity at mines to ensure the safety of workers. The seminar will provide information that assists with the management of risks posed by electrical plant and installations at the mine, and with the interaction of workers with that plant and equipment.

The seminar

Presentations at this year’s seminar will cover topics such as:

  • Electrical protection and earthing at mines
  • Management of complex mining infrastructure
  • Cyber security of plant and control networks
  • Risk controls and the influence of human factors
  • Opportunities and challenges of new technology
  • Maintenance of competence scheme requirements

The key note speaker is Dave Whitfield. Dave helps organisations improve their safety performance through enhanced connection and engagement, specifically focusing on leadership and culture. He has more than 22 years of experience in the safety industry. Dave describes his approach as human focused safety.
