Epiroc, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has acquired 3D-P, a Canadian company that provides wireless connectivity solutions for surface mining. A robust wireless network is crucial to enable mining automation, including teleremote and autonomous operations. 3D-P is active in North America, Chile, Peru and Australia. It has about 50 employees and had revenues in 2020 of about MUSD 12 (MSEK 110).

The acquisition of 3D-P follows an announcement on 1 June that Epiroc has completed the investment of Kinetic Logging Services Pty Ltd, an Australian company that provides mining companies with geophysical logging services. Kinetic Logging Services, based in Perth, Australia, provides mining-technology measurement services to build improved geological models that help mining companies increase productivity. The company’s flagship product is OreSight, a highly advanced solution that provides near real-time borehole assay data and grade information. The mining companies feed this data directly into their blast pad models, allowing them to make improved decisions on production and ore blending.
“Having reliable, high-quality wireless connectivity is key for mining companies that invest in automation and digitalization to strengthen safety and productivity,” says Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO. “We are happy to welcome the excellent team at 3D-P to Epiroc. Together we will ensure that our customers succeed on their automation and digitalization journey.”
