Inquiry Launched Into Waste Management Transport Drivers

An inquiry was launched earlier this week into safety and fairness issues concerning road transport drivers in the waste management industry.

The Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal (RSRT) will conduct the inquiry as part of its third annual work program.

Industry and concerned parties are being invited to, “make submissions and comments on issues, incentives, pressures or practices affecting safety and fairness in sectors of the waste management industry that may be improved… covering relevant employee and/or contractor road transport drivers, their employers or hirers, and participants in the supply chain in relation to those road transport drivers.”

Tribunal industry members, Mr Steve Hutchins and Mr Paul Ryan will be conducting the inquiry.

Written submissions to the inquiry should be made by Friday, 20 March 2015. Written comments on any of the written submissions should be made by Friday, 17 April 2015.

Further information on the Waste Management Industry Inquiry can be found on the RSRT website.
