Mining industry personnel are preparing for the Asia-Pacific’s largest international mines exhibition – AIMEX.

Registrations for AIMEX 2019 mining industry exhibition are now open and more than 6,000 mining industry professionals and an additional 2,000 exhibitor personnel set to take over Sydney’s Showgrounds across three days from the 27-29 August making it the largest mining event in Australia. 

More than 500 companies from around the world are on display including Alfagomma, Cummins, Hitachi, ESS Engineering Services, Dana Brevini, Trinkor/Hilliard, Svendborg Brakes, Fuchs and Austdac to name a few. 

The AIMEX Conference, sponsored by Davey Bickford Enaex, has been developed with direct input and consultation from key mining personnel, industry associations as well as key mining companies. The 2019 conference will examine three key themes: Future Sector “Seizing opportunities through new approaches and innovation”, Future Workforce “Attracting, developing and retaining talent” and Future Governance “Low carbon economy”. The conference program will provide the mining industry with the platform to connect, engage and challenge the current mindset.

AIMEX Exhibition Director Brandon Ward said no other mining event in Australasia gives you access to this volume of suppliers and this calibre of speakers for free.

“AIMEX is about pushing boundaries and challenging operations and business to innovate not just through technology but through workforce practices, social engagement and policy reform,” said Ward.

 “This year’s AIMEX Conference is our most extensive yet which means mining professionals have a forum for open and transparent dialogue that will drive the sector forward.” Headlining each day of the agenda at the AIMEX Conference will be three in-depth panel discussions that will tackle the relevant themes with robust discussion. 

Day one on Tuesday 27 August at 11:15am the panel will feature “Image of the industry – How can the mining sector and the community work more collaboratively together in the future?” This session will explore ways in which mining companies can engage more collaboratively with communities to build trust and reputation to transform the regions in which they operate.  

On Day two of AIMEX at 10:55am you will hear the panel address “Tomorrow’s workforce – Enabling and cultivating our future miners”. This panel will examine how the industry can reinvent their approach to talent acquisition and retention for today’s agile, analytical and technologically driven age. They will look at current day skill shortages and workforce demands that will develop in the workforce of the future.  

On the final day of the conference, 29 August, the featured panel will tackle “How the industry adapts to climate change and emissions and what this will look like for the mining sector.” In this panel you will hear directly from mining companies on how they are approaching this topic and what measures they are taking to reduce their own footprint.

“We know that the industry is evolving at a rapid rate and businesses need to continue to refine their approaches on both a social and technical front, AIMEX provides an unparalleled opportunity to do this,” Ward explained.

“You will have the ability to hear from industry-leading suppliers, senior personnel from mining companies including Whitehaven Coal and Yancoal Australia as well as peak industry bodies.

In a first for AIMEX, five of Australia’s biggest mining companies will also come together to create the AIMEX Mining Pavilion. Centennial Coal, Glencore, Mach Energy and Whitehaven Coal will join Yancoal Australia to outline their own enterprises, connect with suppliers and drive their own recruitment strategies.

Centennial Coal’s Executive General Manager Approvals, Sustainability & Corporate Communications Katie Brassil said involvement in the AIMEX Mining Pavilion allows them to promote the company’s initiatives and engage with industry and suppliers more broadly. 

“We think it is a perfect opportunity for us to tell our story, not just our story in terms of Centennial and what we do and that we are loud and proud coal miners, but also the story of our communities and our most valuable assets our workforce,” Ms Brassil said.
