Pink and blue mine trucks raise awareness for cancer research

Two 797 rear dump mine truck trays; a blue one for the boys and a pink one for the girls; took to Queensland’s Capricorn Highway yesterday to help raise awareness for improving men’s and women’s health.

The two trays, capable of carrying around 133 Toyota Landcruisers or almost 16,000 60 inch TVs each, were painted bright blue and electric pink to raise awareness for Prostate and Breast Cancer.

Rockhampton based company, SMW Group, painted the trays for Anglo American to help them get their message of awareness and early prevention out to the community.

The trays are a timely reminder to check our health with the annual Movember campaign to change the face of men’s health also well underway (and the SMW workshop boys sporting some impressive mos!).

SMW Group Workshop Manager Scott Stevens said the company was excited to be a part of the awareness project.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work on these trays for Anglo American. Cancer affects everyone in one way or another, whether it’s fighting the disease directly or watching a loved one struggle with the illness. We all know someone who has battled cancer and we would like to do our part to help eradicate the disease,” Mr. Stevens said.

SMW Group has also decided to donate $1,000 as a contribution to the Cancer Council in order to assist with their research efforts.
