Safe Work Awards entries close 12 July

Queensland workers and employers have just a couple of weeks to enter their work health and safety systems and innovations into the 2013 Safe Work Awards. With three new categories, this year’s awards are a fantastic opportunity to be recognised as an industry leader in work health and safety.

Safety Ambassador Mal Meninga has urged employers and workers across the state to enter the awards.

“The organisations that enter the awards are clearly demonstrating the value they place on the health and safety of their workers – and it sends a clear message to their customers, prospective employees and their competitors,” Mal said.

“This year, there are new categories that cover improvements in work health and safety management, employee health and wellbeing and excellence in leadership.”

Queensland companies shone at this year’s ceremony in Canberra, scooping three from the five, showing that this state is leading the nation in work safety.

Origin Alliance from Redbank were awarded as the Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System, Zemek Engineering Pty Ltd as joint winner for the Best Workplace Health and Safety Practice/s in a Small Business and Paul Gear from the Gold Coast City Council as for the Best Individual Contribution to Workplace Health and Safety by a Work Health and Safety Manager.
