Safe Work Australia is looking for workplace safety professionals to become official ‘Safety Ambassadors’ for Safe Work Month in October.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Michelle Baxter encouraged workers to visit the Safe Work Australia website and register to become a Safety Ambassador.
“Safety month provides an opportunity for us all to focus on health and safety in our workplaces and to make lasting improvements,” Ms Baxter said.
“This year’s theme Work safe Home safe is a reminder that the most important reason for staying healthy and safe at work is not at work at all. We all want to return safely home to our friends, family and loved ones.”
The Safety Ambassador program aims to encourage workers at all levels to become involved in safety month and raise awareness of health and safety at their workplace.
To register, just complete the online Safety Ambassador registration form.
Once registered, Safety Ambassadors receive exclusive access to an online resource kit containing a range of tools and information.
Workplaces with a registered Safety Ambassador are also eligible to enter the Safety Month Workplace Participation Reward. A prize will be awarded to the workplace showing the most outstanding spirit, participation and creativity during safety month and initiating changes likely to have a lasting impact.
During safety month, Safe Work Australia is hosting the Australian Strategy Virtual Seminar Series (VSS). The VSS is a free online event showcasing the latest work health and safety thinking, developments, innovation and research with video presentations and live interactive panel discussions.
