Over 200 electrical engineers will examine the idea of ‘back to basics’ at the NSW Resources Regulator’s annual Electrical Engineering Safety Seminar next week.
Mine workers, manufacturers, contractors and industry specialists from across the State will be in attendance. The event will discuss electrical hazards, how these hazards become an unacceptable risk to the health and safety of people, and how to best control the risks associated with the sector.
Chief Inspector of Mines at the Resources Regulator, Garvin Burns, said the event was key to making the NSW mining industry a safer place to work.
“This event is a key part of our engagement with the mining industry and I am delighted to see so many in attendance this year,” Mr Burns said.
“We have a great program of speakers across a range of topics, with a particular focus on innovative risk management procedures and electrical engineering issues and safety.”
The event also features a session with mine safety expert Dr Justin Ludke, who will speak about incident investigation and injury prevention.
Held at the Sofitel Wentworth in Sydney on 7-8 November, it’s the 28th hosting of the annual conference.
