WA Mine Safety Roadshows start next week

WA’s Resources Safetywill be conducting a series of Mines Safety Roadshows throughout the month of October. The Roadshow will visit Geraldton, the Pilbara, Bunbury, Kalgoorlie and Perth.

This year’s Roadshow will start with a look at mines safety and the changing safety culture in Western Australia, followed by a review of mining fatalities covering over a decade to 2012.

The Roadshow will also focus on improving  understanding of hazards, risks and controls. Questions posed at interactive sessions include:

  • How does the hierarchy of control apply to our operations and can we do better?
  • Why should we be concerned about design?
  • What mobile plant issues need to be addressed in WA?
  • Why should anyone be concerned about stored energy?

There is also an opportunity to provide feedback on resources covering working hours, fatigue and related topics.

Roadshow attendance is free but you must register to confirm your place. To register for the 2013 Mines Safety Roadshow visit www.starsevents.com.au/form/DMPRoadshow2013
