Quarry Worker dead in South Australian Quarry

A 29 year quarry worker has died in an incident at a South Australian Quarry.

Robbie Westover, 29, died from head injuries sustained at the Hallett Resources Truro Quarry 100 kilometres North East of Adelaide on the 21st April, 2020. He reportedly was found lying on a conveyor belt immediately following the accident.

Robbie was a father of three children.

“On arrival, ambulance officers were treating a 29-year-old man from the Barossa region but despite their desperate efforts, he sadly died at the scene,” police said in a statement.

SafeWork SA provided an update on the incident on the 27th April 2020 and confirmed that investigations are continuing and the regulator is working closely with SA Police and the state’s Department of Energy and Mining.

Hallett Resources recently reportedly acquired the Truro Quarry from Topcoat Asphalt recently. The Company is a subsidiary of MSP Group.

Earlier this morning, an incident at Truro Quarry led to the death of one of the quarry workers. Management and staff of Hallett Resources Truro extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased worker.
This tragic incident has shocked and distressed all those who were present, and all staff and management of Hallett Resources Truro.

We are cooperating fully with the SA Police and SafeWork SA who attended on site soon after the incident to investigate. Due to that investigation, we are unable to release any
further information at this stage. We expect that more information may be released in the
coming days.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased worker at this terrible time.
